About
Making a Difference
At Jump Start we work with students as part of a blended approach to education, including those on roll in mainstream school, specialist provision or between school placements. Our part-time support service aims to complement schools academic work with our vocational and activity-based curriculum that engages with students, that focuses on well-being and self-esteem building interventions.
The range of activities we provide include horticulture, bike repair, construction and ‘upcycling’ furniture, sports activities, and fishing – some of which will lead to formal vocational qualifications (e.g. IMI (mechanics), Sports Leadership and NCFE).
Jump Start is part of the Portland College Charity Group.
